David Caruso got too big for NYPD Blue. It took Caruso a number of years to bounce back from his departure from the popular NYPD Blue. Caruso starred on this popular crime drama from 1993 to 1994. He left to pursue a movie career.
The only memorable role he had was in Kiss of Death. That movie would not have been at all memorable, though, without bad guy Nicolas Cage.
Now try to name any other roles David Caruso had between 1994, when he quit NYPD Blue, and 2002, when he took on the starring role on CSI: Miami.
