On February 2, 2005, after nearly nine years of marriage, former flight attendant Margaret, 35, filed for divorce from the 49-year-old actor.

Pals say the relationship couldn't survive bicoastal living: he jets between L.A. and Miami. Caruso's PARTYING (WOMEN AND BOOZE) and EGO were also a problem add sources, especially after his 2002 comeback with CSI Miami.

According to a show insider: "HE WAS A GREAT HUSBAND THE FIRST FEW YEARS; THEN WENT OFF THE DEEP END AFTER HE BECAME A TV STAR."
